The ring clip is sturdy and easy for an adult to fasten and release, while being secure enough that baby cannot detach it during use. Bandana Buddies are suitable from birth for visual engagement and from around 3–4 months when babies begin to bat at and grasp hanging objects. The teether becomes particularly valuable from around 4–6 months when drooling and mouthing begin in earnest

Are the materials safe for mouthing and chewing?

Skip Hop Bandana Buddies contain no BPA, phthalate, or PVC chemicals, and all materials are tested to meet or exceed ASTM, CPSIA, and applicable toy safety standards. The soft nubby plastic teether is designed specifically for mouthing and chewing — it provides gentle resistance on sore gums without being hard enough to cause discomfort. The fabric body and crinkle elements are also safe for mouthing. Surface wash the fabric components with a damp cloth and mild soap, and air dry — do not machine wash or submerge, as this can affect the crinkle material and the clip mechanism
